Kayla Porter is our volunteer of the month. Kayla first started volunteering with the Fidelis Foundation in 2010 and has recently returned to us.
Kayla is a senior at the Early College High School and plans to attend Lander University in the Fall of 2015 to study Equine Therapy.
Kayla was recently featured in our first newsletter where she said "This program exists to teach at-risk youth of all ages how to care and ride a horse. We also try to build confidence with children and trust between the horses and kids. As a volunteer, I see many great things with the children who come and ride. Many of them came to the barn and were scared to even step near the horse, but by the time they leave the have smiles on their faces.
When I leave the barn I can finally say to myself, “I have made a difference.” Being able to teach children about something I love doing is great and seeing them grow every step of the way has helped me realize how many opportunities there are in the community to make a difference."
Thanks Kayla for all you do!
